About Joe:

Joe Filous graduated from Walsh University in North Canton Ohio with a degree in history and a minor in philosophy.  His honor’s thesis was on Bishop John Carroll and some of the challenges he faced as the first Catholic bishop in the new United States.  Joe continued his research at John Carroll University, where he graduated with a MA in history.  At Case Western Joe continues to be interested in the intersection of religion and society.  His dissertation investigates eight antebellum colleges in Ohio and the students who attended them.
