Advanced Placement and IB Credit
Beginning in the 2018-2019 Academic Year, incoming students receiving a 5 on at least one of the three AP History exams (or a 6 or 7 on an IB History exam) will be invited to enroll during their first fall semester in the one-credit hour HSTY 100: Introduction to History. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive an additional three credit hours of History transfer credits. Depending on a student’s major, these additional credits may not be applicable to a student’s General Education Requirements–for additional information, please contact the department’s Director of Undergraduate Studies, Prof. Peter A. Shulman.
Transfer Credit and Study Abroad Credit
Students seeking HSTY credit for courses taken at other institutions, whether in the United States or abroad must consult the Undergraduate Director,
Prof. Peter A. Shulman.
- For courses at foreign universities, students should follow the procedures outlined by the Office for Education Abroad. All requests for evaluation must be accompanied by the relevant form and a full course syllabus.
- For courses at American universities, students should follow the procedures outlined by the Undergraduate Studies Office. Here too, all requests for evaluation must be accompanied by a full course syllabus.
Please note that the History Department does not grant credit for online courses.
