General information
The History Department offers a Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree program that allows acceleration toward graduate study for highly motivated History majors. Upon admission to the program, students pursue the simultaneous completion of requirements for both the bachelor’s and the master’s degrees. Students typically complete the bachelor’s degree in the first year of the program, and then take an additional year to complete the master’s degree requirements.
Students in the Combined BA/MA program within the Department of History must:
1. Successfully complete HSTY 470: Historiography, Method and Theory; HSTY 476: Comparative History; and HSTY 479: Research and Writing.
2. Successfully complete four electives (12 units).
3. Register for 9 credits of HSTY 651: Thesis Research; and
4. Successfully complete and defend a master’s thesis.
